What do you appreciate most about Farrowdale? The approachable nature of staff, the culture which is based on family values and flexibility and agility or the curriculum to suit the child’s needs. The quality of education is outstanding and the staff know the children on an individual level so learning can be tailored to suit each child. I appreciate the teachers. Their teaching approach is personal and genuine. It’s not a ‘one size fits all’ school. Each pupil is individually catered for so they can learn and grow at their own pace.

My daughter is at Farrowdale House, she's been there since she was 3 years of age now she's 5 and doing amazingly well with a reading age of 7. I would highly recommend it. The staff are so caring and supportive and it has a real family feel. We feel safe leaving our daughter knowing she is happy and reaching her potential. We are so glad we chose Farrowdale.

can HIGHLY recommend Farrowdale House Independent Preparatory School in Shaw. My son has just started in early years and they accept the 15/30 hours free childcare - and also offer FREE before school club from 7:30am which for me was a huge bonus. I can’t tell you how much he’s come on in the few weeks since starting. It’s such a lovely school, with lovely children and staff. ’ve just started my daughter in Year 6 there as she was struggling at her old school. Her attitude towards the classroom has completely took a huge turn and she enjoys going ! She feels listened too as the class sizes are a lot smaller.

I would highly recommend Farrowdale House school. I've seen my child progress at an amazing rate not only academically but also socially. I would probably describe the school as a big happy family, all the children really look out for one another, they have lovely manners, dress smartly and show fantastic support for each other. This is down to the hard work the teachers put in and the way the school is ran.

Hours of Attendance

School is open from 7.30am at which time the children are supervised by Mrs Baggott in the hall until they are collected by their class teacher at 8.30am. Teachers lead a morning activity from 8.30am. Mrs Baggott will pass on any information or messages you leave to the relevant person.

School begins for all pupils at 8.45am when a bell is rung to signal the start of the school day and registration.

At 8.45am the children and their teacher go to the school hall for the whole school assembly. If your child arrives after 8.45am. please register your child at the school office as being present in the building, this is essential for safeguarding reasons and in case of an emergency.

Early Years and Key Stage 1 children finish school at 3.30pm and are dismissed through the back door into the playground. All children are only dismissed once their parent or designated person is in the playground to collect them.

Key Stage 2 children finish school at 3.30 pm. The children wait in the playground to be met by their parent or designated adult.

Parents are able to access the playground via the side gate on Crompton Way.

Any children not collected by 3.40pm are brought back into school to wait in the entrance hall. Children may be collected via the front door after 3.40pm. If your child is not collected by 3.45pm we will book them into the After School Club and you will be charged accordingly.

After School Club is available until 5.30pm.

*A daily charge of £5 is made for children using the service up to 4.30pm

*A further £2 charge is levied for every subsequent 30mins from 4:30pm until 5.30pm.

*All children must be picked up by 5.30pm

This includes a choice of sandwiches and drinks. If you wish to pre book your child into After School Club please email or telephone the School Office.

Break Time

We promote healthy eating in School. All children may bring healthy tuck to school with them for each of their playtimes (morning and afternoon for EYFS & KS1) or buy wholemeal toast and fruit from the school hall. We kindly request yoghurts are not brought into school as they can easily ruin uniform.

Children will need their own own water bottle in school. This can be filled up and used throughout the day. We kindly request only water.

Lunchtime

The school has its own kitchen on the premises. A healthy two course meal is provided daily and all children are expected to partake. If your child has any specific dietary requirements e.g. medical, religious please inform the school in writing and your child will be catered for.

The kitchen, headed by cook Julie Baggott, recently received a routine inspection visit from environmental health. They were awarded a hygiene rating of 5 stars, which is the highest rating which can be given.
